The
Special Olympics is an international program that provides athletic
competition for individuals with special needs. The oath for every
Special Olympian is, “Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave
in the attempt.” CuriosityCafé, Inc. believes that participation
is half the battle and strongly supports the Special Olympics.
In October, the
Special Olympics were in New Mexico hosting a the state bowling
championships and CuriosityCafé was there too. Our employees Sue,
Steve, Linda, and myself along with volunteers Candace, Christine, Wyatt,
and Alejandro all participated. We helped supervise, judge, and
encourage the players in their bids for Olympic Gold. Once again, the
level of sportsmanship exhibited by the players touched us all.
Everyone cheered each other on and was happy with their performance.
There were high five’s and hugs all around. “Strike after strike
after strike,” stated Steve Smith, “many of these bowlers were better
than I will ever be.” |
The Special Olympics
have been around since the 1960’s and are dedicated to helping people
with special needs improve their physical fitness and motor skills,
self-confidence, self-image, friendships, and increase family support.
Many families were there to support their athletes.
